Plans to enhance positive ageing and help older people in Zambia sustain their livelihood are underway thanks to Anderson Simfukwe, CommonAge scholarship delegate and Director of Aged Care and Service Centre, Zambia.

According to the World Health Organisation, the number of grandparents caring for AIDS orphans in developing countries has doubled over the last ten years and up to half of the world’s 15 million AIDS orphans are being cared by a grandparent.

Following the innovative training opportunity Dementia Care Australia gave to our scholarship delegate Richard Semanda, Founder and Executive Director, Geriatric Respite Care Foundation-Uganda and his colleague Jesca Nakibirango, we were delighted to hear they have successfully completed the 3-week International Spark of Life Master Course with high distinctions

A meeting at the recent international conference has led to an invaluable opportunity for our scholarship delegate Richard Semanda, Founder and Executive Director, Geriatric Respite Care Foundation-Uganda and his colleague Jesca Nakibirango to receive essential dementia care training.
