CommonAge Chair (Emeritus) Andrew Larpent recently completed a meaningful mission to Rwanda and Kenya as part of the Equity Group Holdings (EGH) Trade & Investment Roadshow — a major continental initiative supported by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC).
The Roadshow brought together business leaders, policymakers, and investors from across the Commonwealth for industry site visits, strategic dialogues, and a plenary forum attended by more than 200 Kenyan delegates and international executives.
The core message was clear: East Africa is a rapidly developing, globally significant economic region seeking strong trade ties and sustainable growth partnerships.
Meaningful Partnership Moments in Rwanda
Andrew Larpent had an inspiring meeting with Elie Mugabowishema, CEO and Founder of NSINDAGIZA, an organisation championing the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of older people in Rwanda.
Their exchange focused on:
- NSINDAGIZA’s impact on ageing policy and social protection
- Ensuring older people are included in national development plans and SDGs
- Opportunities for future collaboration to strengthen age inclusion across Africa.
- As CommonAge, we celebrate this partnership and remain committed to ensuring that older people are never left behind.
- Strengthening Commonwealth Connections in Kenya
During the Kenya leg (26–30 November), Andrew Larpent engaged deeply with our CommonAge Kenya leadership and partners:
- Richard Waindi
- Maggie Njagi
- Nancy Wagacha
- Gloria Langat
- Roseline Kihumba
Key activities included:
Industry site visits with East African business leaders
Participation in the EGH Business Forum (200+ delegates)
Discussions on care, ageing, intergenerational development, and regional collaboration
Insights into Kenya’s growing role as a key economic player on the global stage
Richard, Maggie, and the broader CommonAge Kenya Chapter actively contributed to these exchanges, helping spotlight care, ageing, and inclusion within emerging economic development frameworks.
These cross-continental discussions — from Rwanda to Kenya — were rich in learning and full of shared experiences. As CommonAge, we celebrate these connections and look forward to more engagement, more collaboration, and more shared impact across the Commonwealth.
