BURSARY PROGRAMME

The CommonAge bursary programme is aimed to foster, facilitate and promote delegates from Commonwealth countries to attend forums, conferences and events linked solely to the sector of elder care.

The CommonAge Bursary Programme is designed to support and encourage our members from Commonwealth countries to attend forums, conferences, and events dedicated to the elder care sector. This bursary targets emerging leaders residing in
Commonwealth countries who can clearly demonstrate how their work positively impacts older people in their communities. The program offers recipients a valuable opportunity to engage in professional networks beyond their own countries, learn from international colleagues, and share their expertise.

Benefits

  • Bursary recipients are offered a financial contribution for the conference towards costs for the conference, travel, insurance and accommodation.

Eligibility

  • Applicant to be a resident of a Commonwealth country. https://thecommonwealth.org/our-member-countries
  • Applicant must be a CommonAge member.
  • Priority would be given to local Chapter members.
  • Applicants must be Professionals engaged in elder care and who can clearly demonstrate their work benefits/assists elders in the Eco system of care.

Our Bursary Recipients

All of these people are experienced professionals, many very highly qualified, within their own countries. However, due to financial constraints, their opportunities for participating in professional networks outside their own countries, to learn from international colleagues and to share their own expertise, are often limited.

2023 Bursary Programme supported by UKRI’s Healthy Ageing Challenge

2018

We are exceedingly grateful for the generous support by Quality Compliance Systems for this bursary.
Nineteen applicants from developing Commonwealth countries have been awarded a bursary, which has enabled industry leaders in Bangladesh, Cameroon, India, South Africa, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Australia, Tanzania and Uganda a unique opportunity work towards the WHO Decade of Healthy Ageing 2020-2030 at this exciting conference.

2017

With the generous support of Curaviva and international aged care providers and supporters, we developed a scholarship fund for delegates from Commonwealth countries to be a part of the Global Ageing Network/Curaviva Global Ageing Conference, 18-21 September 2017, Montreux, Switzerland.
We received over applications from 16 Commonwealth Countries, and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, scholarships were awarded to the following delegates from 6 developing countries across the Commonwealth:

2015

In 2015, we launched a scholarship fund to enable our professional colleagues from developing countries of the Commonwealth to join us in Perth at the IAHSA/ACSA conference, 30 August – 3 September, 2015.
We received nearly 50 applications from 20 Commonwealth Countries, and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, scholarships were awarded to the following delegates from 12 developing countries across the Commonwealth.
