Anderson Simfukwe

Leading Dementia Advocacy and Intergenerational Dialogue in Zambia

We are proud to announce that Anderson Simfukwe—CommonAge Chapter Head for Zambia and Founder of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias in Zambia (ADDIZ)—has been selected as one of 10 bursary recipients to attend the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) Global Conference, taking place from 9–12 September 2025 in Cape Town.

A passionate advocate for the rights and dignity of older people, Anderson is a Spark of Life Master Practitioner and a trailblazer in dementia care across Zambia. Through ADDIZ, he has developed impactful community programs that challenge stigma, promote awareness, and provide compassionate, person-centred support for individuals living with dementia in both rural and urban settings.

At the IFA Conference, Anderson will also present in the session “Intergenerational Relationships and Ageing: Exploring Family Dynamics and Support in Zambia,” where he will share invaluable grassroots insights into family care structures and intergenerational solidarity. His work exemplifies local leadership driving meaningful change in ageing and dementia care throughout Africa.
