KENYA, Dr. Purity Mwendwa

Dr. Purity Mwendwa is a DOROTHY/Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow and Fulbright Scholar, currently based at the Trinity College Institute of Neurosciences (TCIN), Dublin, Ireland, and the University of Greenwich, UK. Her research focuses on dementia, ageing, and community-based care models, with a strong emphasis on inclusive and context-sensitive approaches to support individuals and families affected by dementia.

She is leading the ENGAGE Project (dEvelopiNG A neiGhbourhood model for dEmentia), which explores how neighbourhood networks and local resources can be mobilized to create dementia-friendly environments. Her work aims to strengthen both policy and practice by highlighting the importance of community, culture, and social structures in shaping dementia care.

Dr. Mwendwa’s scholarship builds on her international expertise, with contributions recognized through her Fulbright Fellowship and ongoing Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship.
